The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have really started to turn heads with their recent moves in the transfer portal. The 2026 football season looks like it could be one of their best in a while, and that’s mostly because they’ve managed to snag some impressive talent at key positions.

Quarterback and Running Back Transfers
Quarterback is obviously a huge deal for any team. Notre Dame just landed a QB with a Crystal Ball rating of 0.9200, and he’s already on campus.
That kind of rating hints at a real difference-maker under center. Over at running back, they’ve also brought in a player with a 0.8500 rating.
Sure, that’s a bit lower than the QB, but it’s still a solid pick that should give their ground game a nice boost.
Wide Receiver Acquisitions
Wide receivers can really make or break an offense, and Notre Dame’s been busy here. Four new WRs have joined with Crystal Ball ratings of 0.9400, 0.8900, 0.8700, and 0.8600.
This group brings a nice mix of top-end speed and reliable hands. With these guys, the QB should have plenty of options downfield.
Top Talent in the Wide Receiver Position
The WR with the 0.9400 rating? That’s someone to watch. Speed, agility, and the ability to make tough catches—he could really open up the field and make defenses sweat.
Defensive Line and Edge Rushers
Defense is still king, right? Notre Dame’s defensive line just got a serious upgrade with three new faces, rated at 0.9400, 0.9300, and another 0.9300.
These guys should make it a lot tougher for opponents to move the ball up front. On the edges, they’ve added two rushers with 0.8900 and 0.8500 ratings.
Edge rushers that can get after the quarterback are always valuable. A couple of big plays from them might swing a close game.
Linebackers and Secondary
Linebacker depth matters, and Notre Dame’s got two new ones: a committed player with a 0.8600 rating and another already enrolled at 0.8500.
Both should help shore up the run defense and add some flexibility in coverage. The secondary’s gotten a big lift too, with new cornerbacks rated 0.9200, 0.8700, and another at 0.8700.
There’s also a CB with a 0.9100 rating who’s committed. At safety, they’ve brought in three more: 0.8700, 0.8500, and a committed player at 0.9200.
Impact on the Secondary
Those high ratings in the secondary make me think Notre Dame’s pass defense could be a real strength. The CB and S both rated at 0.9200 stand out—they’re probably going to be making highlight reels before long.
Special Cases and Unique Transfers
One really odd case this transfer cycle involves a CB who switched teams and now sits with a “Question Mark” status. Nobody seems totally sure about the details yet, but it just goes to show how unpredictable college football transfers can get.
The 2026 transfer portal acquisitions have put Notre Dame in a pretty interesting spot for the upcoming season. There’s a mix of high-rated talent at different positions, and that should boost both the offense and defense.

With the season getting closer, fans and analysts are probably wondering how these new guys will fit in. Will they help Notre Dame chase football glory? Guess we’ll see soon enough.
