The Oregon Ducks are set to make history with a new partnership that will bring American football to Tokyo, Japan. Announced on Monday, April 27, the Oregon Ducks NIL collective Division Street revealed the *Tokyo Oregon Football Showcase presented by Flight Club*, a collaboration with the Japan Gridiron Association and Flight Club.

Oregon’s football stars and coaching staff will travel to Japan from June 25 to June 27. They will introduce and teach American football to Japanese students and coaches.

Oregon Ducks Take Flight to Tokyo

Oregon coach Dan Lanning will lead a group of standout players, including quarterback Dante Moore and wide receivers Dakorien Moore, Evan Stewart, and Jeremiah McClellan. Running backs Jordon Davison and Dierre Hill Jr. will also join the journey to Japan.

The main goal is to teach American football to Japanese students at The American School in Japan. The trip will focus on 7-on-7 competitions, allowing Oregon’s offensive players to showcase their skills.

Coaching Clinics and Cultural Exchange

Coach Dan Lanning will conduct a coaches clinic covering the fundamentals of American football. *The opportunity to represent the University of Oregon in Tokyo is a once-in-a-lifetime experience,* Lanning said in a release.

*Football has taken all of us to incredible places, and it will be special to connect with players and coaches who love this game as much as we do.* The Ducks will also participate in a cultural exchange, highlighting the global appeal of American football.

Strategic Marketing and Potential Collaborations

With the NFL expanding internationally, Oregon’s trip to Japan is a strategic marketing move. The involvement of Flight Club, an exclusive sneaker retailer, hints at possible collaborations from this partnership.

It is not yet known if new Oregon merchandise will be released as part of Division Street’s collaboration with the Japan Gridiron Association. The prospects for future projects are exciting.

Phil Knight’s Influence and Legacy

Nike co-founder and former Oregon athlete Phil Knight has often spoken about the influence of Japanese culture on his work. Nike began by selling products from Japanese shoemaker Onitsuka Tiger before launching its own shoes.

Knight’s trips to Japan inspired many aspects of Nike’s success. The Japanese influence can be seen at Nike’s Philip H. Knight Campus, which features a Japanese garden and symbolic torii gates.

This cultural homage also appears in the old court design at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, where the name *Matt* was styled to resemble a torii gate.

Honoring Phil Knight’s Legacy

Knight’s memoir, *Shoe Dog*, tells the story of Nike. The Oregon football team honored Knight during the 2025 season by wearing special uniforms inspired by the memoir.

The uniforms featured a shoulder patch with the University of Oregon’s motto, *Mens Agitat Molem* or *minds move mountains*. Oregon’s Mount Hood and Japan’s Mount Fuji were both depicted, and tiger stripe accents symbolized the fusion of East and West.

Innovative NIL Opportunities

The collaboration between Division Street and the Japanese Gridiron Association is the latest innovation in the Ducks’ NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) opportunities. This initiative gives Oregon’s athletes a chance to showcase their talents on an international stage.

It also opens new avenues for cultural exchange and global engagement. As the Oregon Ducks prepare for this journey, the *Tokyo Oregon Football Showcase presented by Flight Club* highlights the power of sports to bridge cultures.
