Coach Scott Satterfield has Cincinnati off to a decent start in year three. Their only loss was a close one—just three points—against Nebraska.
They kicked off Big 12 play with a wild win over Kansas. The Bearcats aren’t playoff material yet, but knocking off an unbeaten top-15 team like Iowa State would turn some heads.
Texas Tech’s Momentum
No. 11 Texas Tech is also hitting the road, taking on an undefeated Houston squad. The Red Raiders looked every bit the part of Big 12 favorites after hammering a ranked Utah team 34-10 on the road.
Their transfers up front on defense have really made a difference. With a manageable schedule coming up, Texas Tech needs to keep stacking wins.
Houston’s still undefeated, but you wouldn’t know it from the AP poll—they didn’t get a single vote. Their resume isn’t flashy, but if they beat Texas Tech, people will have to take them seriously.
SEC Clashes: Florida vs. Texas and Vanderbilt vs. Alabama

If Alabama loses to Vanderbilt, suddenly they’re staring at two losses and their playoff chances start to look grim. That’s a lot of pressure for October.
ACC Battles: Miami and Florida State
Miami’s been turning heads, thanks in part to transfer QB Carson Beck. He’s kept the offense humming along.
They’ve got two absolute monsters in the trenches—Francis Mauigoa at tackle and Rueben Bain Jr. off the edge. Both are in the Heisman conversation. Still, you never quite know with Mario Cristobal when the pressure’s on.
Florida State’s Redemption
Florida State got knocked back to reality last week with an overtime loss to Virginia. The ACC just keeps tripping itself up.
It’s looking more and more like a one-bid league, but the Seminoles aren’t out of it yet. A win over Miami, and suddenly they’re right back in the playoff mix.
