This year, though, things feel different. Spring practice ended April 24, and Belichick’s got a better handle on what he’s working with.
The roster’s finally stabilizing. There are 52 new faces in the program already, and more are coming in after graduation.
No spring transfer portal this time, so the group that’s here now is, well, probably the group that’s sticking around.
That’s making a difference, especially with leadership. Jordan Shipp and Christo Kelly have really taken charge on offense.
On defense, Melkart Abou Jaoude and Jaiden Patterson are stepping up too. They’re basically the coaches’ right-hand guys on the field.
They help keep things focused and make sure the team’s actually listening. It’s a big shift from last year’s uncertainty.
So, with all this in place, the Tar Heels are in a much better spot than before. Belichick sounds genuinely hopeful about what’s ahead.
There’s a clear direction now, and the team finally feels like it knows who it is. Maybe—just maybe—that’ll show up when it counts.
