Mississippi State football hasn’t exactly been front and center lately. With winter sports winding down and spring sports barely underway, news out of Starkville has been a bit quiet.
But here’s something worth paying attention to: Brandon Sneh, a transfer portal signee everyone expected to see in maroon and white, won’t be joining the Bulldogs this season. Head coach Jeff Lebby shared that Sneh, the UAB offensive tackle who committed back in January, has actually run out of eligibility.
So, Sneh won’t suit up for Mississippi State, and the Bulldogs are suddenly scrambling for starting offensive tackles just as spring training kicks off.
Brandon Sneh’s College Football Journey
Brandon Sneh’s path through college football has been anything but straightforward. He grew up in Philadelphia and played at Neumann Goretti High School, then spent a prep year at Fork Union Military Academy.
He kicked off his college career at Elizabeth City State, an FCS Division II school in North Carolina. As a redshirt freshman in 2023, he started ten games there.
Transfer Portal Movements
After Elizabeth City State, Sneh moved on to Wagner College up in New York. He started eleven games in 2024 at Wagner.
His first time in the transfer portal, he landed at Kansas State in January. But after spring training with the Wildcats, he jumped back into the portal and committed to UAB in May.
At UAB, Sneh started every game at left tackle and racked up 795 snaps. Pro Football Focus gave him an 80.3% grade, which is nothing to sneeze at.
He blocked for an offense that put up 229 rushing yards and two touchdowns in their bowl game against Tulsa. UAB only went 3-8 in the regular season, but Sneh’s play really stood out.
Mississippi State’s Spring Training Challenges
Now, Mississippi State and Coach Lebby have to figure out who’ll step up at offensive tackle. They had counted on Sneh to make a splash in the SEC, so losing him this late is a real headache.
The coaching staff will have to get creative during spring training to fill that hole.
Prospects and Recruitment
Recruiting is always a grind in college football, and getting your name out there early can make a difference. But keeping that momentum? That’s the tough part.
Coach Lebby and his crew are on the hunt for players who bring both talent and grit—guys who’ll fight for a spot and chase success at this level.
Conclusion
Brandon Sneh’s ineligibility just threw a wrench into Mississippi State football’s plans. The Bulldogs now have to scramble for new ways to strengthen their offensive line as spring training approaches.
Sneh bounced around several colleges before landing at UAB, and his path really highlights how tricky the transfer portal can get for both players and teams. If you want to dig deeper, check out the original article on 247Sports.
