Earlier this week, we tossed out a question: which Michigan transfer portal addition at receiver are fans most excited about? The results are in now, and the numbers are telling.

51% of fans picked JJ Buchanan, who comes over from Utah. Another 37% went with Salesi Moa, also from Utah, while 12% chose Texas transfer Jaime Ffrench.

Buchanan brings the most experience and should make an immediate impact for the Wolverines. Moa and Ffrench could also see the field quite a bit, but Moa is just a true freshman, and Ffrench only caught one pass as a freshman last season.

Buchanan had a strong freshman year at Utah—26 catches, 427 yards, and five touchdowns. At 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds, he was actually listed as a tight end last season, so there’s still some stuff to work on as he switches to receiver.

Footwork, releases—definitely need to get better at releases, Buchanan admitted back in April. Footwork, in and out of breaks. I feel like those are the main things I’m trying to improve at. Just footwork, footwork, footwork, footwork.

How did you vote this week? Will Buchanan, Moa, or Ffrench have the biggest season in 2026? Drop your thoughts in the comments.

Let’s take a closer look at what each guy brings—and what fans are buzzing about.

JJ Buchanan: The Experienced Transfer

Buchanan, the clear fan favorite with 51% of the vote, is a transfer from Utah. His freshman stats pop off the page: 26 receptions, 427 yards, and five touchdowns.

He stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 225 pounds. Last season, Utah listed him as a tight end, so he’s still learning the ropes at receiver.

  • Height and Weight: 6-foot-3, 225 pounds
  • Freshman Season Stats: 26 receptions, 427 yards, 5 touchdowns
  • Areas for Improvement: Footwork, releases

Buchanan knows he needs to work on his footwork and getting off the line. His size and experience make him valuable, and most expect him to get on the field early and often.

Salesi Moa: The Promising Freshman

Salesi Moa pulled in 37% of the votes. He’s another Utah transfer, but unlike Buchanan, he’s a true freshman.

He doesn’t have Buchanan’s experience, but there’s a lot of hope around his raw potential. Fans are curious to see how he adjusts to the college game and what kind of spark he might offer the Wolverines’ offense.

  • Position: Wide Receiver
  • Fan Votes: 37%
  • Potential: High

Moa’s youth and upside make him intriguing. If he develops quickly, he could carve out a real role in Michigan’s attack.

Jaime Ffrench: The Underdog

Jaime Ffrench, the Texas transfer, got 12% of the vote. He only had one catch as a freshman, so he’s flying under the radar a bit.

Still, you never know—sometimes the underdog surprises everyone. With the right coaching, Ffrench could turn some heads and become a steady target.

  • Previous Team: Texas
  • Freshman Season Stats: 1 reception
  • Fan Votes: 12%

Ffrench has a real shot to prove himself. If things break his way, he might surprise some people as the season goes on.

Fan Excitement and Expectations

There’s a lot of buzz around these new additions. Buchanan leads in fan votes, so expectations for him are sky-high.

Moa and Ffrench have their own groups of supporters, all eager to see what these newcomers can do in maize and blue.
