College football fans have something new to mess around with: Yahoo Sports just launched college fantasy football. If you’re used to the NFL version, you’ll probably find this familiar, but there’s a twist—now it’s all about Saturdays.

On Yahoo’s new platform, you can draft college players, set your lineups, and rack up points based on what they do on the field. The player pool pulls from the big conferences, and the scoring system has its own quirks, so there’s plenty to dig into.

Yahoo Sports Unveils College Fantasy Football

Yahoo Sports is jumping into the college fantasy football game, rolling out a format that’s pretty close to what you’d see in NFL leagues on ESPN or elsewhere. You pick your squad, follow the games, and your players earn points for what they do each week.

The scoring system covers the usual suspects—quarterbacks, wide receivers, running backs, tight ends, flex spots, and team defenses. But there’s a new wrinkle for college: a “team offense” position. That’s a first, at least on Yahoo.

Scoring System and Settings

The scoring is simple enough, but there are some details you’ll want to know:

  • Passing Touchdowns: 4 points
  • Interceptions: -1 point
  • Rushing/Receiving Touchdowns: 6 points
  • Fumbles Lost: -2 points
  • Defensive Sacks: 1 point
  • Defensive Interceptions: 2 points
  • Kickoff/Punt Return Touchdowns: 6 points

No individual kickers here—their stats just get lumped into the team offense. If you’re into PPR (points per reception), Yahoo lets you tweak that, but the default is set at 0.5 points per catch.

Eligible Teams and Conferences

This first season, Yahoo’s college fantasy football is sticking with the biggest names: Big Ten, SEC, ACC, and Big 12. That’s 68 teams, so you’ve got options.

Notre Dame’s in the mix too, which just feels right. Love them or hate them, they always find a way in.

Nebraska Football’s Preseason Projections

Nebraska fans will want to check out Yahoo’s preseason projections for their top guys. Some numbers might surprise you—or not, depending on how optimistic you are.

Jamal Rule

True freshman Jamal Rule heads into the fall with a shot to make an impact. Yahoo’s got him at 89.5 carries for 456 yards and about 3.6 touchdowns.

Through the air, Rule’s projected for 15 catches, 128 yards, and less than a touchdown. He’s ranked 165 overall, 66 at his position, and 15th among Big Ten backs.

Mekhi Nelson

Sophomore Mekhi Nelson has had some off-field stuff muddying the waters. Still, Yahoo’s numbers: 52.1 carries, 261 yards, 2.2 touchdowns, plus almost 10 catches for 80 yards and half a score.

If Nelson can’t go, Kwinten Ives or Isaiah Mozee might get more touches. Nelson sits at 227 overall, 85th at his spot, and 21st in the Big Ten.

Nyziah Hunter

Receiver Nyziah Hunter is projected to lead the Huskers’ wideouts again with 47.8 catches, 676 yards, and 5.4 touchdowns. Last year, he hauled in 43 balls for 617 and five scores, so Yahoo’s not expecting a huge jump.

Hunter’s overall rank is 252, with a WR position rank of 96 and 20th in the Big Ten. He’s solid, but not flashy.

Anthony Colandrea

Transfer QB Anthony Colandrea could shake things up. Yahoo projects him for 2,683 passing yards, 19.6 touchdowns, and 8.3 picks.

He’s also set for 110 rushes, 405 yards, and 5.5 scores on the ground. For reference, last year at UNLV, he threw for 3,459 yards and 23 TDs, plus 649 rushing yards and 10 TDs. His overall rank: 258, QB rank 32, Big Ten QB rank 9.

Jacory Barney Jr.

Wideout Jacory Barney Jr. is pegged for 42.7 catches, 475 yards, and 4 touchdowns. In 2025, he had 45 grabs for 484 yards and five scores, so not much change there.

Barney’s overall: 419, WR position rank 154, Big Ten WR rank 37. Not exactly a breakout pick, but steady.

Luke Lindenmeyer

Tight end Luke Lindenmeyer is projected for 29.3 catches, 321 yards, and just over two touchdowns. Last year, he led the TEs with 29 for 312 and two TDs.

He’s ranked 447 overall, 42 at TE, and 11th among Big Ten tight ends. Maybe not a star, but he’ll get his looks.

Kwazi Gilmer

Transfer WR Kwazi Gilmer is expected to post 33.7 catches, 427 yards, and 3.9 touchdowns. At UCLA in 2025, he led the team with 50 grabs, 535 yards, and four touchdowns.

Yahoo thinks he’ll dip a little, but maybe he fits better in this offense. Gilmer’s overall rank is 455, WR rank 159, and 39th in the Big Ten.

Team Defense Projections

The Nebraska Blackshirts are projected for 18.3 sacks and 9.3 turnovers, including 6.1 picks. Last year, they had 22 sacks and forced 13 turnovers.

Looks like the defense might slide a bit, but it’s tough to say until we see them on the field. College football always finds a way to surprise you.

Conclusion

Yahoo Sports is rolling out college fantasy football, and honestly, it feels like a big deal for fans who want to dive deeper into the game. They’re zeroing in on top players from the big conferences, and the projections look pretty detailed so far.
