In the latest college football action, North Hunterdon High School grad Kente Edwards is still making headlines for Lafayette College. Edwards, a standout all season, just picked up Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second week in a row—and the fifth time this year.
His stats? Wild. He racked up a career-high 260 rushing yards on only 20 carries in Lafayette’s 59-42 win over Colgate. This post takes a closer look at the recent performances of local college football players, spotlighting their big moments and what they’ve brought to their teams.
Kente Edwards Shines for Lafayette College
Kente Edwards has been on another level for Lafayette this season. The junior running back ran for 260 yards on 20 carries, punching in touchdowns from 29, 6, and 49 yards out.
With 15 touchdowns this year, he’s just one away from the school record. He’s already hit 1,032 yards, even after missing two and a half games, and there are still two games left to go.
His 260 yards against Colgate? That’s the third-most by a Leopard, trailing only Ross Scheuerman’s 304 in 2014 and Nick “Special K” Kowgios’ 296 back in 1982. What a list to join.
Team Contributions
Edwards wasn’t doing it alone. Sean Wilson (Easton) and Sean Kinney (Nazareth) started on the offensive line, paving the way for Lafayette’s highest-ever point total against Colgate.
Receivers Mason Kuehner (Nazareth), Ethan Hosak (Central Catholic), and Matt Scerbo (Phillipsburg) chipped in too. Kuehner grabbed four passes for 49 yards and a score, Hosak had two catches for seven yards and a touchdown, and Scerbo hauled in a five-yarder.
Lehigh University’s Unbeaten Season
Lehigh is rolling, now 10-0 after a 38-3 win over Holy Cross. The Mountain Hawks put up 518 yards of offense, with a season-best 344 on the ground.
Running back Luke Yoder topped 1,000 yards for the second straight year. QB Matt Machalik (Palmerton), and defensive linemen Broc Bender (Nazareth) and Andrew Sharga (Northampton) all made their presence felt.
Lehigh’s got a tricky trip to Colgate up next, before their huge rivalry matchup with Lafayette. That one’s always a circus.
Key Players

Tim Pherson (Phillipsburg) and Evan Saylor (Parkland) were also important pieces in the win. That defense just keeps showing up.
Wilkes University Highlights
For Wilkes, QB Cooper King (Northampton) went 14-for-30 for 136 yards and ran for 40 yards on 11 carries. Rahmel Terry (Bethlehem Catholic) returned three kickoffs for 55 yards and caught a five-yard pass.
J’Vier Johnson (Easton) had seven tackles, and Trevor Gitski (Emmaus) added two. Not the result they wanted, but some bright spots there.
Franklin & Marshall’s Defensive Prowess

Springfield’s Dominant Rushing Attack

Will Aviles (Bethlehem Catholic) made five tackles, and Harrison Stewart-Smith (Central Catholic) caught a 21-yard touchdown. That’s how you finish a season strong.
Additional Highlights

Luke Spang (Parkland) really turned heads for Muhlenberg. He completed 21 of 27 passes, racking up 290 yards and tossing four touchdowns—easily his best showing so far.
